Patch 0.3.9

Patch 0.3.9 is here, finally! It’s been a busy last two months since the previous patch, not just working on the game but real life work as well. I recently started in a new full time job at a nursing home which has been interesting to say the least.

This update brings a lot of QoL improvements to the game, along with the long missing female sprites for characters. These sprites were a huge undertaking, as I had to create new sprites not just for bodies, but also clothes, hair, armor and setting up holding points for weapons and shields. The amount of work was honestly a bit demotivating, but alas. You might expect some visual glitches with it however, so if you find anything, report it either in the comment section of this post or over on the Discord server.

Let’s jump further into the most notable new features of this patch!

Picking Locks

The lockpicking minigame is overhauled to be a bit more difficult and actually use the Lockpicking skill, unlike before where it was instead based on your Dexterity stat if you could pick the lock or not. Now you also have to activate a pin to send it up, and then activate it again when it’s at the top position to lock it in place. Failing to do so breaks your lockpick.

Gone Fishin’

The fishing minigame is overhauled as well, as you can see in the GIF. You have to keep the fish inside the green box until the bar on the right is filled, then you can reel it in. Bodies of water across the world have also been filled with different species of fish.

Throwing Dice

I’ve also added a new dice minigame which can be played in taverns throughout the world, which also replaces an old one where you’d have to guess which number the dice would land on. It wasn’t all that great. So now, you can instead play a dice game called “Cee-Lo”. The goal is to score double or triple dice, where the one who has the highest score wins.

A proper showcase

Last but not least, I’ve finally gotten around to recording and putting together a trailer for Wanderboots!

Now that we’re done with the most major new stuff in this patch, here’s the full patch notes:
